1701 – Detroit was founded as Fort  Pontchartrain du Detroit by Antoine de la Mothe, Sieur de Cadillac

1774 – Augustus B. Woodward was born in NYC and would go on to become the Chief Judge of Michigan Territory

1805 – The Great Fire of Detroit burnt down the whole town

1807 – Woodward’s plan for Detroit was made; Treaty of Detroit was signed between English and Native Tribes; Rise of the auto industry

1920s – Highway system was developed
