DART Program

Dial-A-Ride (DART) began in 1972 with the Public Acts of 1972. This is a service that allows Seniors and people with disablilities to call for pickup, instead of having to trek all the way to the bus stop. Many counties and transit companies surrounding Detroit–Lake Erie Transit, for example– is a provider of Dial-A-Ride currently, which serves the City of Detroit (michigan.gov). The State Interim Elderly & Handicapped (E&H) was funded by the Legislature, to give additional money and support to the DART program and the areas where there is no elderly or handicapped support [1].
